Charles Turner is an actor and director who is currently appearing with Cicely Tyson in the award winning play, “ Trip to Bountiful” on Broadway. He has performed major roles on and Off-Broadway. His credits include performances in regional theatres across the United States, the Caribbean, Europe and India. He attended schools in Harlem and the Bronx and later earned an MFA from the Yale Drama School. He was a Full Professor of Drama and the Artistic Director of the McGuire Theatre at SUNY at Old Westbury (1991-93). He has been a member of the graduate faculty at New York University Tisch Theatre of the Arts. His one-man shows on Frederick Douglass and Paul Robeson have been featured in touring productions. Directing credits include work with the New York Shakespeare Festival and direction of notable talent including Denzel Washington,
Al Freeman Jr. and Roscoe Lee Browne.
