Sara Berg has worked as an actor, director, dramaturge and producer in professional theater, cabaret, and television. She was a founding member and Co-Artistic Director of Titans Theatre Company in NYC from 2002 to 2006. She started her career performing at The Body Politic Theatre in Chicago in the hit play “Coming Attractions” by Shelly Goldstein, a show which ran for over a year. While in Chicago, she also acted in “The Italian Straw Hat” at Drury Lane Theater, “The Lost Honor of Katarina Bloom” at the Wisdom Bridge Theater, and “Heaven’s My Destination” at the Food and Fiction Dinner Theater, among others.
She has worked in NYC at the Nat Horne Theater in “Private Lives” by Noel Coward, New York Ensemble in “The Taming of the Shrew” as Katharine, Six Figures Theater’s production of “Flyer” as Bonnie and “Clowning the Bard”/”Clowning the Bible”, “Not Now, Darling” as Miss Tipdale at The Hampton Playhouse, and many others. Regionally, she has performed in “Crimes of the Heart” by Sam Shephard at the Penumbra Theater in St. Paul. MN; “Tooth of Crime” by Sam Shepherd at Stage One Theater in Minneapolis, MN, “Ta-Ra-Ta-Boom-De-Ay” at The Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble in PA, “CocoNuts” at the Illusion Theatre in New Hampshire, Dr. Charlotte in “Falsettos” at Martha’s Vineyard Playhouse, and Patricia Fodor in “Crazy For You” at the Hampton Playhouse. She also appeared several years ago at St. Ann’s Warehouse in the puppet theatre festival “Labapalooza”, where she played an old Danish woman lost in her memories and her past, which were played by puppets. In commercials, she has appeared in national spots for Heinz Ketchup and for Dunkin’ Donuts, among others.
Sara’s producing/directing credits include “Prince & Cinderella” at Penumbra, and many productions for Six Figures and Titans Theatre Company: Julie Flanders’ “Living in Pieces”, “The Rivals” by Sheridan, “eclipse” by Andrea Lepcio”, “Viva Vaudeville” at the NY Fringe Festival and all “Nights of the Titans”. Sara’s directing credits also include “Food for Life” by Clea Rivera at the LaMaMa Theatre ETC and “Esther: A Feast of Masks” by Ellen Kushner for National Public Radio taping/tour. Sara created, produced, directed and performed in numerous cabaret shows for many years, in particular along with her partner Richard Skipper, in the popular “Carol & Carol” (as Carol Burnett) cabaret series. Sara directed “A Brief Night Out” by Marla Mase and Tomas Doncker this past year and directed their new show “SPEAK”, a concert rock and roll theater piece for Summerstage, this past summer.
